RELEASE NOTES

What changed.

1.0.0 (first release)

  • Ocean: The same wave maths runs on the GPU and the CPU.
    • wind-driven sea from a flat calm to a hurricane (Beaufort 0-12, and two forces past the scale), with swells;
    • twelve sea areas (zones) with their own swells and depth;
    • five named wave forms: Long ocean swell, Cross sea, Giant shoal waves, Distant hurricane swell, Breaking bar;
    • rogue waves;
    • shoaling and breaking over shallow water.
  • Water look: Single Layer Water with clear-water absorption and scattering, whitecaps and foam, wakes and hull wash. Colour, clarity and foam can be changed in the material instance.
  • Wind: a wind subsystem: the ocean's own wind, an override, wind source components, any actor through a wind interface, or Ultra Dynamic Weather's (optional, no hard dependency). The sea can follow the wind.
  • Boat physics:
    • per-triangle buoyancy, slamming and drag on a simple hull;
    • planing;
    • resistance;
    • propellers, outboards, pods, tunnel thrusters and trim tabs;
    • a helm with throttle levers or an engine telegraph, wheel and autopilot;
    • fuel that weighs.
  • Boats of any mesh: a boat definition holds the meshes, sockets, moving parts, options, configurations, upgrades and the interface data. No code is needed for a new boat.
  • Four boats: a centre console, a planing yacht, a yacht support vessel and a power catamaran, each with configurations and upgrades.
  • Interface:
    • start screen;
    • boat picker with configurations and upgrades;
    • a multifunction helm display (engines, rudder, autopilot, radar, echo sounder, chart, roll, switches);
    • skins, and parts that can be switched off.
  • Maps: NA_Map_Demo (island and harbour), NA_Map_OpenOcean and NA_Map_WaveTank (regular waves with a live panel).
  • Sounds from a data table, with a ready-made set included and an import script for your own sounds.
  • Tools: a procedural foam texture generator; the sea's colour, clarity and foam in material instances.
  • Languages: English, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Polish and Brazilian Portuguese.
